My Favorite Places to Fish
Ventura / Oxnard Area
6) Silver Strand Point
This small area is a favorite of local bait fisherman. Area (1) is great for perch and corbina (they seem a little less spooky here?) and a local told me recently that he regularly gets legal halibut from the rips that form close to shore. Area (2) is deep water and is technically on the base property. Everyone seems to fish there with out any problem as long as you stay near the tip of the jetty and don't approach the beach. These days they'll probably throw your butt in jail. Area (3) is tough when the kelp is high but can hold some nice bass.

Directions:
From Channel Islands Bl : Head South on Victoria Ave through the little town. Just stay on the main road as it parallels the base property until you reach the end. Turn Right (no choice) and take that street (sawtelle I believe) towards the beach. You will reach the sand where Sawtelle and Ocean Dr meet. You can park here and walk or there is a sandy road that will take you to an upper parking area closer to the beach.
