My Favorite Places to Fish
Ventura / Oxnard Area
4) Oxnard Power Plant
Nicknamed "Shark Alley", the Oxnard Power Plant is a wild and beautiful place where an open, windswept, sandy beach meets a small warm water outflow. Strong currents, tidal action and off and on water flowing from the plant keeps this area in a state of constant change. The warm water often draws sharks and rays in good numbers along with 100s of mullet. Big Moe also lives here. One of the few times I've had a fish threaten to spool me was here. After the fish realized it was hooked it just moved off towards the Channel Islands and never stopped till it finally broke my leader with almost 200 yards of line out. Like I said before this place is always different so the catching can be hot or cold. Its also a bit of a walk so you will most likely have the place to yourself. Can be best at low tide but you never know.

Here's a few poor quality pics from a great AM my buddy Timm and I had here.
Directions: From Channel Island Harbor, continue South on Harbor Bl past McGrath State Beach to 5th Street. Turn Right and park where the road reaches the beach. Walk along the beach to the North till you meet the little jetties and the outflow. (apx. 1 mile)
