4) Silver Strand
Silver Strand Beach (Coronado Island) – This is
where I caught my first fish Fly Fishing the surf. A Barred Surf Perch! Best fish I ever
caught! I still can’t believe that Fly Fishing the surf actually works! Well,
this spot is beautiful. Lots of scenery and diverse fishing conditions. Spot one
is the standard run of the mill Surf Fishing. Spot Two is San Diego Bay!! It’s
like Fly Fishing a Huge Lake! I wade out at different point and blast line
straight out and try various retrievals to see which one they like that day.
It’s tough fishing though. I have only caught two Bay Bass on a Clouser. If
anyone has tips about the bay please let me know!!
Directions: I- 5 to Highway 75 South (Coronado Bridge). Good news about the bridge, NO MORE TOLL!! The bridge is paid off I guess. Once you get past the Old Toll booth area your going to veer to the right and hook up with 3rd St. (4th St is one way, and wrong direction) Take 3 rd to Orange go Left. Follow Orange to the Park Entrance on the right.
